Kid's Amateur Boxing Awards
The Amateur Boxing Association Boxing awards that we teach in Basingstoke are designed to be a fun, recreation and non contact programme for children of any age and ability.
The awards are designed at grass roots level to promote the skills and discipline associated with Boxing, plus they promote a healthy lifestyle , fitness and weight control all leading to increased confidence and self esteem.
The ABA Boxing awards are split into different levels, the first three of these help to teach the fundamental aspects of boxing.
The Preliminary award teaches the basics of boxing and is suitable from the age of 5 years upwards.

It teaches stance, guard, balance, torso movement, and basic footwork moving in all directions. It also includes an introduction to pad and bagwork.
The Standard award builds on the boxing skills learnt at our gym in Basingstoke during the ABA Preliminary award.
We now add on combination, movement and body position along with skipping and circuit training for fitness. We continue to develop the bag and pad skills. Children will also be taught some of the rules of Amateur Boxing.
You will also learn warm-up routines (which you will have to do yourself) and skipping – which is a great way of keeping fit and losing weight. You will also be asked 5 questions on the rules and your general knowledge of boxing.
The Bronze award adds on additional techniques and incorporates them into new combinations.

It also looks at utilising the different ranges between opponents and the appropriate technique to use. Children now start to practise conditional non contact sparring drills to further develop their skills.
The Boxing awards are a great way to introduce Children to boxing in a safe and controlled manner. They are also a great precursor to other classes that we run.
Make the right choice for your child. Get them involved in a sport which will keep them active for life.
