Karate Kumite, GKR, Go-Kan-Ryu Karate, Dojo, Fighting, Sparring, Karate Gi, Karate EquipmentCongratulations to Mark Nevola who entered the Kyoki Kai National Championships in Dockland London on Sunday 11th November and won two silver and one bronze medal.

Kyoji Kai is led by John Anderson 7th Dan, who has an excellent reputation for developing international level fighters who are regularly seen competing for the Karate England National squad. So it was clear that the event wasn’t going to be a walk in the park with competitors from John’s own association present plus many of the Countries top players.

Mark lost in the final of the Under 80kg fighting to Dan Cuthbert 3rd Dan of UKA (National Champion and Karate England National Team member)

In the Veteran’s fighting Mark narrowly lost by one point to Rob Ward 2nd Dan also from UKA. Both of these events were run under WUKF regulations.

In his last event, the Shobu Ippon, which is more ‘old school’ in terms of the rules and points system, he reached the semi finals, losing by a judges decision at the end of the match.

Mark was pleased with his performance overall and his practice had paid off with techniques worked on in training, accounting for many of his points.

Congratulations once again to Mark as he continues his competition training looking towards for a big year in 2013.
